As per WHO guidelines any country should have Doc to population ratio as 1:1000. Russia has 4.1:1000 whereas India had 0.77:1000 in 2018 and now recentlyreached norms .. But still number of doctors in public heath system has huge shortfall both majorly in rural but still in urban areas. Telangana govt to fill the gap to the access to public health system started Basti Dawakhanas in most populous urban area in the state like GHMC. 43 more are getting inaugurated tomorrow in addition to the existing 123 with a total target of 350.
Each Basti dawakhana will have a doctor and nurse ..soon diagnostic services, free medicines will also be added. Timings were from 9 AM to 4PM but extended to 7 PM based on huge demand from public. specialized doctors presence is also under consideration.
